“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
This is a phrase that is also one of the biggest lies to ever be told. Words go deep. They sink into the deepest depths of our mind, and consciousness.
A knife can enter into the body to terrible depths, but words can enter where a knife cannot.
Words stick with you until the day you die. Even when you forgive a person, you will constantly remember the agonizing words they dared to utter from their lips.
Words that replay over and over in your mind.
I’m sad to tell you that sometimes stabs with a knife can be fatal. There are other times; however, the cuts can be healed. You may have a scar, but it’s painless.
Words cut deeper, and even after they scar over, they still hurt. They hurt forever.
The tongue is so evil, and detrimental.
Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
James 3:6 – And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3:8 – But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
There’s many more scriptures about our mouths and tongues.
While sticks and stones may break your bones, those bones can be healed.
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will forever damage me……
