When I first began my blog, I wrote on a draft explaining pretty much why us Pentecostals do the things we do. I feel like I should go back and explain everything in spate blog posts. I think it will help a lot better, so the reader ( you) doesn’t get overwhelmed with the information. Please feel free to comment any questions you have below.

So first, I would to begin with the plan of Salvation. Now this, like everything else in the Bible is very important. Many people; however, get Gods plan of salvation very confused. People read John 3:16 and immediately misread it, and misunderstand it.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I want you to take a close look at this beautiful scripture. …..SHOULD NOT perish……

If you believe in God, you shouldn’t perish…. but that doesn’t mean you wont. You shouldn’t because if you believe, then you should read his word and follow his ways according to the Bible. Lets be honest… this statement is really going to throw you for a loop.

Even the devil believes in God!!!!!!!

The prophet Joel said in

Joel 2:28-29

” And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.”

Okay.. stay with me!

John 7:37-39

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said , out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

(But this spake he of the spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given ; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.

SOO… Joel is prophesying the Holy Ghost is coming in Joel chapter 2, and In John chapter 7, it says that those who believe should get the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t glorifed yet!

Stay with me, and ill explain what the Holy Ghost is according to Gods word…

Alright now heres where you really have to focus, and stay in the word.

Acts 1:5

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

John the Baptist baptized with water BUT YE SHALL be baptized with the HOLY GHOST….

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

You will receive power when you get the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:1-4

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

They received the Holy Ghost! When they received the Holy Ghost, it came with evidence of them speaking in other tongues.

Now this is where people tense up and close the book, or turn off the computer, because they are scared of it. Some people don’t want to believe in it, but in a second you will see for yourself how essential it is. Don’t be scared of it. Its a special language that only God understands.AND YES… its for EVERYONE.You will learn that too.

Acts 2:13-21

Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Alright! Joels prophesy we read about has come to pass! The Holy Ghost!

Now we read that others mocked them…which happens today! People say that its crazy, and unnecessary , and they will make fun of those who obey this. Don’t let them hinder you from Gods plans for your life!

Now what were about to read is Peter preaching.

Acts 2:37-39

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

This is the plan of salvation that you have read for yourself. They asked what shall they do to be saved, and he told them.

  1. Repent
  2. Be baptized in Jesus Name
  3. Receive the Holy Ghost

And then he continues to tell us that this promise is for us, and our children, and to ALL that are afar off, even as many as God shall call! Its not just for a select few! Its for everyone!

Now when you receive the Holy Ghost, the Bible tells us it comes with evidence of speaking in other tongues.Yes its necessary!

Later in Acts Peter was preaching and once again when they received the Holy Ghost, they spoke in other tongues.

Acts 10:44-48

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Other examples of speaking in tongues when receiving the Holy Ghost are found in many scriptures. Heres just a few of them:

  1. Acts 2:38
  2. Acts 11:15
  3. Acts 10:44-48
  4. Acts 2:1-15
  5. Acts 16:30-34
  6. Acts 19:5-7

That’s JUST A FEW! Theres plenty more examples throughout Gods word.
